Central Tape Winder ZBW 500 SH

Application

The newly designed Central Tape Winder ZBW 500 SH can be combined with high speed braiding machines or spiraling machines. This machine is used to wind different tape materials around cable, hose, stranded wire, isolated conductors or round wire prior and/or after the braiding / spiraling process. Optimal results concerning flexibility and shielding effect are ensured by an adjustable tensile force in the tape, and an adjustable overlap of tape material.

Safety Information

The operating door of the central tape winder ZBW 500 SH is made secure with a door lock. Therefore, in order to open the door it is necessary to connect the machine to the main power supply and position the main switch to „on“. Furthermore, it is only possible to open the operating door at standstill of the machine after pushing the button “auto off” at the operator panel.

Setting the central tape winder ZBW 500 SH

First the tape material is placed against the tape plate and tensioned with the locking nut. Then the product to be wrapped is drawn through the hollow shaft of the central tape winder and fixed to the take-up. The tape material is led over dancer roll and over the inclined traversing roll to the taping finger and is fixed with suitable adhesive tape at the product to be wrapped. Then the taping finger and guiding rod are adjusted in such a way that the product is not drawn out of the taping finger. Now the tension of the tape can be preselected through the torsion spring with help of the catch strip. The taping head is now ready for operation.

Functional Description

After switching the machine on it is necessary to teach the dancer roll on its back limit stop (greatest possible angle between dancer roll and traversing roll) for an exact definition of the working range. This is done with the blue button “reset” at the operator panel. The working point of the dancer roll can only be set at the operator panel by entering a value (10 to 90%).

During set-up of the central tape winder it is possible to turn the taping head separately by hand. For this purpose there is an “inching” button. As desired this function may also be applied by a foot switch.

In order to start the machine it is necessary to close the operating door and push the green button “auto on” at the operator panel. The machine is now waiting for a predetermined signal for the draw-through speed. The draw-through speed of the product to be wrapped is predetermined by a signal of the machine in line before. As an option this speed may also be determined by a measuring wheel directly at the central tape winder ZBW 500 SH.

With the values set at ZBW 500 SH for tape width, tape overlap and product diameter the required speed of the traversing plate is calculated. This traversing plate is driven by a three-phase motor (Master).

While the product is wrapped, tape material is consumed so that the angle between dancer roll and traversing roll gets smaller. As a consequence a speed difference between dancer roll and traversing roll occurs which is recorded by an incremental generator and evaluated in the control of the machine. The speed of the three-phase motor (Slave) driving the tape plate is adjusted so that the dancer roll maintains its position.

In case of tape break the dancer roll is at its back limit stop. If this position is held for a defined period of time the machine will switch off automatically.

While the machine is running the machine control calculates the remaining diameter of the tape disk from the speed difference between the two three-phase motors. If this diameter falls below a set value a message referring to the near end of material will be given.
